刘禹锡（772—842），字梦得，河南洛阳人。唐朝时期大臣、文学家、哲学家，有“诗豪”之称。诗文俱佳，涉猎题材广泛，与柳宗元并称“刘柳”，留下《陋室铭》《竹枝词》等名篇。
LIU Yuxi (772-842), Getting in a Dream by literary name, a native of Luoyang, Henan Province. The poet, a minister, litterateur and philosopher in the Tang dynasty, has been acclaimed as an “Unconstrained Poet”. With his wide interest reflected in the subject matter of his writing, Liu excelled in both poetry and prose. Liu Yuxi and Liu Zongyuan were known as “Liu-Liu”. 卖炭翁，伐薪烧炭南山中。
满面尘灰烟火色，两鬓苍苍十指黑。
卖炭得钱何所营？身上衣裳口中食。
可怜身上衣正单，心忧炭贱愿天寒。
夜来城外一尺雪，晓驾炭车辗冰辙。
牛困人饥日已高，市南门外泥中歇。
翩翩两骑来是谁？黄衣使者白衫儿。
手把文书口称敕，回车叱牛牵向北。
一车炭，千余斤，宫使驱将惜不得。
半匹红纱一丈绫，系向牛头充炭直。

白居易（772年－846年），字乐天，号香山居士，又号醉吟先生，祖籍太原，到其曾祖父时迁居下邽，生于河南新郑。是唐代伟大的现实主义诗人，唐代三大诗人之一。白居易倡导新乐府运动。白居易的诗歌题材广泛，形式多样，语言平易通俗，有“诗魔”和“诗王”之称。
BAI Juyi(772-846), styled Blessed Glee, Mt. Balm by literary name, born in New Cheng, in present-day Henan Province. A realistic poet, one of the three most outstanding poets in the Tang dynasty, and an advocator of Yuefu Movement with Yuanzhen (a litterateur and official in the Tang dynasty) Bai’s poems comprise various themes, and his language is easy-going. Bai was praised as “Magician of Poems” and “King of Poems”.
The Charcoal Gray Hair

The charcoal Gray Hair,
He fells trees for charcoal in south hills there.
He’s dirty with dust and smoke, front or back;
His sideburns gray and his fingers all black.
What will he do with the money he earns?
Food, clothing, and all those daily concerns.
So poor, the garment he wears is so thin;
For higher price, he hopes winter to set in.
Outside the wall at night, a foot of snow,
At dawn he drives his cart down ice to go.
So tired, the sun high, and the ox so pressed,
Outside South Gate, in snow and slush he’ll rest.
Lo, riders trotting up, who are they guessed?
A herald in gold and a boy white dressed.
Decree in hand, an edict here they shout;
To north they turn the ox and cart about.
A cart of charcoal half a ton does weigh;
What can he do now they take it away?
A foot of red silk, and damask gauze spread,
The price for charcoal, tied to the ox’s head.

苏轼（1037年—1101年），字子瞻、和仲，号铁冠道人、东坡居士，世称苏东坡、苏仙，眉州眉山（今四川省眉山市）人，北宋文学家、书画家、唐宋八大家之一。作品有《东坡七集》《东坡易传》等。
SU Shi(1037-1101), styled Looker and Seer, East Slope Buddhist and Iron Crown Wordist by literary names, known as East Slope Su and Immortal Su. The poet, a native of Mt. Mei, Meizhou (present-day Mt. Mei, Sichuan Province), was a litterateur and calligrapher in the Northern Song dynasty, and was honored as one of the “Eight Great Litterateurs of the Tang and Song Dynasties”. On Mid-Autumn Festival (the 15th day of the 8th moon), 1076，I drink till dawn and get fuddled. Writing this, I miss my brother Zi You.
How often does the bright moon appear?
Holding my cup, I ask the blue sky.
Tonight, I do not know, which year
It is in the palace on high?
I would go above, riding the air;
In the celestial castles there,
The cold, I’m afraid, I couldn’t bear.
To dance there with a cool shadow whirled
Is not better than this human world.
Thus turns around the moon glow,
From red roofs to my window,
And floods my sleepless sorrow.
Gainst man the moon should bear no spite.
Why, then, when people part is it round and bright?
People gather and part again,
The moon undergoes wax and wane,
One can ne’er perfection attain.
How I wish man could live for e’er
And share her fair light everywhere.

常建(708-765?)，唐代诗人，字号不详，有说是邢台人或说长安（今陕西西安）人。现存诗57首，存《常建诗集》3卷和《常建集》2卷。
CHANG Jian(708-765?) , a poet in the Tang dynasty, whose literary and courtesy names are unknown. He was a native of Xingtai (in present-day Hebei Province) or Chang’an (present-day Xi’an, Shaanxi Province). 57 poems of Chang are existent. He authored the 3-volumeChang Jian’s Poetry Anthologyand the 2-volumeChang Jian’s Collection. (买天春译)

鱼腹书难达，蚕丛路不平。
遥怜三峡里，处处有猿鸣。

释敬安（1851-1912），俗姓黄，名读山，自号八指头陀，湖南湘潭人。著名的爱国诗僧，曾任天童寺等寺院住持，中华佛教总会第一任会长。著有《八指头陀诗文集》。
Shi Jing’an (1851-1912), Huang by original surname, Dushan by given name, Bazhitoutuo by self-literary name, a native of Xiangtan, Hunan Province. A famous patriotic poet-monk, he served as the abbot of some fanes such as the Heaven Boy Temple, and the first President of the General Federation of Chinese Buddhism.
